Abstract: Recently, the International Maritime Organization has taken a number of design decisions aimed at reducing the consumption of marine diesel fuel, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide emissions. The latter can be achieved by introducing the ship's energy efficiency management plan into maritime practice, minimizing the operational coefficient of the ship's energy efficiency, and transferring maritime transport to low-sulfur fuel. In addition to the above measures, this article proposes an integrated technology for the purification of exhaust gases from ship power plants (EG SPP) and utilization of the heat of exhaust gases from the SPP. The analysis of the known technical solutions for the purification and utilization of the heat of the exhaust gas of the power plant is carried out, their shortcomings are revealed and the ways of developing a resource-saving technology are outlined. As a result of the research carried out, the main components that lead to an increase in the efficiency of sea cargo transportation and the protection of the environment have been identified. Due to the implementation of the developed integrated technology, the damage to the air basin from the EG SPP is reduced by five times.

Abstract: Japanese society has always been concerned about noise issues in the environmental protection of high-speed railways, and various efforts have been made administratively and technically to address high-speed railway noise issues. Administrative efforts include regulatory measures such as setting environmental standards for high-speed railway noise and noise measurement and assessment; technical efforts include testing and control using appropriate means for various railway noise sources. The environmental noise problem of the Shinkansen has become one of the key factors limiting the ability of the Shinkansen to increase its operating speed. China's high-speed railway construction has been developing rapidly since 2008, and increasing attention is being paid to environmental protection. With the increase in China's high-speed railway construction lines and the gradual increase in high-speed railway speed, China's high-speed railway’s new higher-speed technology shall be put into operation in the future. The issue of high-speed railway noise control is also becoming increasingly important to China. China's high-speed railways have applied both active and passive noise reduction technologies, but in view of the research on high-speed railway noise control the concept and design of environmental protection, especially noise control, of the Japanese Shinkansen railway was carried out relatively early, and the research on advanced technology of some Shinkansen noise control measures has certain significance for China's high-speed railway operations.

Abstract: Following rapid growth Addis Ababa is experiencing traffic congesting, urban sprawl, farmland conversion and environmental degradation. Addis Ababa LRT (AA- RT) has been envisioned to mitigate these problems by connecting four corners of the city to the Central Business District (CBD) however faced with enormous challenges mainly related to lack of finance to sustain operation. As a remedial measure the city Administration is considering Transit Oriented Development (TOD) as an alternative to overcome the challenges as well as fight the negative effect of the problems by reshaping transport and land use pattern in a sustainable manner. Even though TOD concept has helped many cities around the world detail investigation is should be performed and stockholders should be equipped with adequate knowledge in advance TOD planning and implementation. Since TOD concept is entwined with effective, efficient, fast and frequent transit, evaluating the performance of AA-LRT effectiveness is crucial. The objective of this research is to assess the significance of AA-LRT in improving the public transport system by analyzing the modal share among other public transport; analyzing stations efficiency, and analyze operational efficiency that would eventually give understanding about current situation of AA-LRT. The methodology involves collecting secondary data from relevant office and analyze statistically. The result revealed that modal share of AA-LRT among other public transport is 6%; all stations accommodate less number of passengers than designing and operational efficiency decreasing year after year.
